A History of Music Television

The first incarnations of music television came in the form of variety shows like Ed Sullivan and with live youth programming like American Bandstand and Soul Train. With the eighties came MTV, which would dominate the format until YouTube links posted on Facebook became a new and democratic source for music videos.
